Slayers NEXT (1996) is part of the Slayers (スレイヤーズ) franchise, which is a landmark fantasy-comedy media franchise that first debuted as a light novel series in 1989. Written by Hajime Kanzaka and illustrated by Rui Araizumi, the series became one of the most influential "sword and sorcery" titles of the 1990s.
This set features a high-detail production cel of a key antagonist/supporting character, captured with the sharp, expressive character designs that defined the series. The accompanying genga/douga reveals the intricate layering and color-coding used by the animators to manage the complex shadows and highlights of the character's armor.
