The work features Hideki Yakumaru, one of Kawasaki High's dynamic forward players, central to the team's battle for teamwork and national victory.
Based on the manga serialized from 1987 to 1992, the title Offside encapsulates the core theme of the work: "the frustrating youth where things were about to go well but were interrupted by a whistle."
