Hideki Yakumaru
Original production cel and layout drawing from Offside (2001–2002), the acclaimed youth sports drama series based on the manga by Natsuko Heiuchi and produced by Nippon Animation. The work features Hideki Yakumaru, one of Kawasaki High's dynamic forward players, central to the team's battle for teamwork and national victory. Based on the manga serialized from 1987 to 1992, the title Offside encapsulates the core theme of the work: "the frustrating youth where things were about to go well but were interrupted by a whistle."
The pencil layout drawing records meticulous details such as structural guides, motion cues, and precise muscle tension lines required for staging athletic performance. Meanwhile, the painted cel brings out the vibrant team colors and dynamic light rendering characteristic of the late cel era.
