Basara Nekki
Original production cel and layout drawing from Macross 7 (1994), the music-driven mecha series created by Shōji Kawamori and Studio Nue.
The work features Basara Nekki in a charged moment, capturing the expressive movement that defines the series’ concept of “Song Energy” — emotion used as a weapon. The pencil genga shows lineweight variation, timing notes, and character-acting cues, while the painted cel preserves the saturated color style of mid-1990s hand-drawn animation.
Both survive in strong condition, offering a clear record of the era when music, mecha, and hand-painted craft converged on screen.
Medium: Hand-painted cel on acetate; pencil drawing on animation paper
