A sweeping depiction of the White Comet Empire’s fleet from the 1978 masterpiece Farewell to Space Battleship Yamato. The massive, architectural blue hull of the Gatlantis battleship dominates the frame, its cold mechanical presence providing a stark, violent contrast to the tranquil town below.

 

The Craft

 

The obi in this pairing carries a deliberate, fragile beauty. Though the front of the silk was damaged, exposing the raw structure from the reverse side serves the narrative: it creates an aesthetic of destruction that mirrors the fleet's assault on peace. The exposed threads and weathered textures of the Kyoto silk resonate with the scene, transforming a "destroyed" artifact into a powerful symbol of the Gatlantis empire's devastating advance.
