Ryō Hibiki

This original genga and matching production cel from Sonic Soldier Borgman (1988) captures Ryō Hibiki at the instant of impact during a high-speed battle sequence. Wearing his blue Baltector—designed for close combat and rapid maneuvering—Ryō is thrown backward by a burst of force, shielding himself as debris and light erupt around him.

Seen in layered form, with the genga still adhered behind the cel as originally stored in the studio, the artwork reveals the animator’s construction of the moment: red timing notes, debris trajectories, and force-line guides radiating from the energy strike.
